Vitamin A

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is an essential vitamin that plays an important role in our health. Vitamin A helps us maintain healthy vision, skin, bones, and other tissues. Vitamin A comes in two forms: Retinol which is found in animal foods such as #liver and cod liver oil; and carotenoids which are found in red, orange, yellow, and green vegetables.

While plant-based sources of Vitamin A can be beneficial to our health, they need to be consumed with traditional fat sources such as butter or olive oil for the body to absorb it properly. In addition to that, 45% of the population including myself, lacks a gene that allows us to convert Veggie based Vitamin A into it's usable source. Which is why animal foods such as liver provide a more reliable source of Vitamin A. Especially seeing as it's essentai for sex hormones and immunity. For most people, a daily intake of 3000-5000 IU of Vitamin A is best for optimal health.

The bottom line? Vitamin A is a vital nutrient, and it's important to make sure you're getting enough from your diet. Eating a variety of colorful vegetables with traditional fats and incorporating some animal foods into your diet can help ensure that you are meeting your Vitamin A needs. With the best choices, you can have the best body.
